We are a SEC registered investment adviser, and we seek to achieve positive absolute returns in all market environments with a hedged portfolio of long and short-sale positions and a concurrent focus on capital preservation. Alex Porter, who had previously worked with the original hedge fund manager, A.W. Jones, launched Amici Associates L.P. with the backing of three friends in 1976. Alex established a culture of integrity and transparency that is exemplified by the Amici name, which means "friends" in Latin. In 1993, Paul Orlin joined us, and his portfolio management expertise and focus on risk has served the Firm and its friends well over the last 20 years.
